Joseph J. Tierney, Jr. practices primarily in the areas of professional liability and commercial litigation. Since joining the firm in 1999, he has received multiple state court defense verdicts representing individual doctors in cases involving physician negligence, and representing local hospitals in negligence actions. He has also received numerous defense verdicts in premises liability cases.
In addition to his state court practice, he has successfully defended individual physicians, pharmaceutical defendants, hospitals, and lawyers in the U.S. District Court. In his role as a member of the firm's Special Task Litigation Practice Group, he has handled numerous business, commercial litigation, and products liability cases.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Tierney clerked for the Honorable Edward B. Cottingham, resident circuit judge for the Fourth Circuit of South Carolina.
